This tip allows you to work in Windows XP with out using an analogue capture card and still capture and play back in Composite , S-VIDEO or DV mode.
Equipment required.
1…Video recorder.
2…Small TV to be used as a monitor.
3…Video camera with DV in/out and Composite in/out.
4…Tested with PREMIERE 6 and Studio 8. (Will work with any software with DV out to tape!)
5..Fire wire card.
That’s all you require.
You probably like me have the Video recorder already set-up and connected via a Scart lead whilst you were using your analog DC30+ capture card, which does not work in XP.
1..For those that did not.
Connect your video to a TV with a scart lead and check that it is working by connecting a TV aerial to the Video player select a TV channel on the Video recorder and AV on the TV. You should have now have a programme on the TV. Now disconnect aerial and turn off Video recorder..
2..Fit a Composite/Scart adapter to the other position in the Video recorder.
3..Connect your camera to the Fire wire card and the composite lead from the camera to the scart adapter.
4..Capture your Digital Video clip to the Premiere time line.
5..Set play back setting in Premiere, to DV out to camera.
6..You may have to set camera settings to DV-Composite out or switch A/V-DV off.
7..Go to time line and play your clip.
You should see, if your camera has the ability to DV in Composite out, see the captured clip on the TV monitor as well as hear the sound.
From this same set-up you can capture composite into the camera and DV out via the fire wire card to your computer.
So you are using the camera to do all the encoding and decoding.
Don’t for get to take out the tape when you’re editing, this stops the camera shutting down after 5 minuets.
You now can play from the time line, record to a Video recorder as you did with the DC30 card or any other analogue capture card.
So as you can see you don’t require any fancy capture card as long as your camera has DV in/out and Composite in/out.
This works perfectly.
I have just saved you £500/ $700. or the cost of a analogue card.![]()
All small donations will be appreciated.
Any body want to buy a DC30+ analogue card???
