Well, first I do own the Pioneer DVR-5100H-S myself.
    And I love it!

Second, I got my device region free..
All the service guys did, was to put a CD into the player.. and it worked for 5min,.. the CD came out.. and the pioneer was region free

Thought there might be some clue on this page - how to make the Player region free. (but maybe I was mistaking)

  4. I'm just saying you posted a link (rpc1.org) for DVD-ROM drives in the Standalone DVD Recorders Forum.

"Remember also that some DVD Players, like many Pioneer and Sony DVD Players, require some extra hardware to be able to be region hacked like a special remote control or similiar. Check with your locale DVD store if they have such hardware/mods or if they can modify it for you or view our links section for some online stores that have such."

As I have read - there haven't been anyone able to make the DVR-5100H-S region free. (that I'm aware of..yet)

So just postet link - so maybe some might find out a solution to the region problem. (I don't have that problem anymore, but others do!)

I know that the 5100 makes an "identification numbers" on both HDD and DVDROM. Unplugging these devices to make DVDROM region free with your computer - you end up getting failure from the 5100 machine!! (and you have to get it to a serice dealer to get it "resett" again)

Okey, sorry - I admit this tread is posted in the wrong forum-channel.

    Thanx for listening!
