    hi, what do;s firmware do?and do i have to download it ...i have have recently bought a brand new pioneer 106d...i;m new to all this please help...thank;s theted.

    Firmware could possibly make a drive region free, make it compatable with more media and improve writing speeds. In your case it would make your drive region free. Do you need your drive to be region free? If not i'd leave it alone. Using unoffical firmware would invalidate your warranty.
