  1. Hi everybody!
There's only one thing and maybe the most important one that i dont know about menu creation in dvdmaestro... How do i apply a sub picture overlay?? what is that and how do i use it on the menu? In dvdmaestro?
Can someone please give some hints. i already have the menu with the points i need like PLAY MOVIE, SCENE SELECTION, SUBTITLES, ETC, ETC,
and in order to work on that what do i have to do? Can i just draw a rectangle on each one of them or do i need to apply a sub picture overlay first and then draw the rectangle??? This part is a bit confusing to me because it is not explained on the guide you have about this software.
    Thanks in advance!!!

In a nutshell without too much jargon.

DVD menus work in 3 layers.

Top layer, this is visable at all times. Be it your still picture, or motion menu. This is created by a 3rd party app such as Paint Shop Pro, Ulead Cool 3d or Vegas.

Another layer is the subpicture. This layer sits underneath the top layer. It's color are controled by Maestro. Usually 4bit (4 color). When hotspots (last layer) are drawn on the menu, it is these areas that a subpicture become visible according to the color and opacity settings in Maestro's menu editor. This can be a simple bitmap create by your favorite image editor (even Microsoft Paint).

Last layer is the hotspot. These are the rectangle you draw to mark hot spots (buttons) that the end user can navigate to. You don't need a subpicture layer with Maestro, though you can do more custom menus with one.

The manual that came with Maestro has an indepth explaination, and examples of the different features of the menu editor.
