  1. ok.....i'm starting to tear my hair out trying to figure this whole dvd video thing.
I've downloaded a few movies from the net.
    svcd & ksvcd
I've went to Galactica's site, and did all the steps.
well, except for the last, importing into Sizzle, I can't get Sizzle to work.
    anyway, I have DVDSP2 instead.
BUT the files I get from ffmegx won't import into DVDSP2.
    I can't figure it out!
I even use MPEG2 Works to create a DVDNSTC 4:3 compatible disc or files.
    still no dice.
I've .m2v's and .mp2's all over the place!
are there guidelines that are only for DVDSP2?
    what's going on???!!!!!
sorry for the panic, but I'm really struggleing here. for the past 2 weeks.
    thanks in advance.
can anyone shed some light on these problems??

  2. svcd mpegs are not compatible with DVDSP. They are an attempt to save space by removing half of the horizontal resolution, sort of like a perpendicular interlacing. These files are not DVD standard. From what I see, you are looking to put all the files onto a DVD rather than simply burning svcd/ksvcd. Is it because your set top player won't take svcd's? Do you have Toast? What version of Sizzle are you using? Calm down, we'll find a solution for you. If you have ffmpegx try this:

    1. gather all the files you want together into a folder and name them sequentially (movie01.mpg movie02.mpg etc.) These should be your dl'ed files and not the stuff you have been processing)

    2. Go to Tools section of FFMPegX and select the Tools Tab. Click one of the Browse buttons in the Video Tools>Select Files to Process section and browse to the FOLDER containing your files.

    3. Click on s/vcd>dvd button. Grab a cup of coffee this can be a little while.

    4. Burn the resulting VIDEO_TS folder like any other DVD using a burning program.

    5. Thank the patience of some of the folks here because the burning s/vcd to dvd question has been asked a lot. I mean a lot. Like say here: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=155591

I also am curious why sizzle isnt working
it sounds like you got 3/4 of the way just to have the last 1/4 not work

    what version were you running?
was it you just couldnt figure out how to import the file? or was it physicially not working?

  4. thanks pixeljammedia......
    i'll try your suggestions.
but what if i want to use DVDSP2? Becuz I may want to put a menu at the start of the dvd. some of those movies might not fill an entire dvd-r. so the menu would allow the user to select which movie to watch.
    ????
    any takers on that??

    thanks again.

  5. in reply to galactica.....

    I have both versions of Sizzle. 0.1 & 0.5b1
I have tried 0.5b1 many times, but crashes when it's saving the .img file.
I would pefer to use 0.5b1 becuz of the menus and buttons and bkgrd pic and bkgrd audio features.
I did get v0.1 to work. But as in my previous reply, I would like to create menus. and I don't see that option in 0.1.
I just dont see reason to waste a whole 4.7gb dvd-r on a 1.5+gb movie.
thats why I want to try to create a dvd with more than one movie on it.
thats why I want to author everything in DVDSP2.
    what a headache!

    thanks for your all concerns.

  6. If you absolutely have to have a DVDSP2 menu then re-encode the video in either MPEG2Works or FFMPEGX. All you need to do is convert the 480 x 480 resolution to a DVD standard resolution, and the audio must be at the proper bitrate. Try 720x480 video and convert the audio to a 48 kHz audio. This should reduce the video quality (there is always some loss in encoding) from an already reduced source, but allow you to work in DVDSP. Sizzle allows chapters and menus and doesn't require video re-encoding. I REALLY suggest finding a way to make it work.
