  1. Has anyone got a way of converting 6CH AC3 sound to SVCD compliant Multi Channel MPEG Audio file?

I tried Hypercube Transcoder i think thats what it was called, but its taking 3hours (2Ghz processor) just to do 55mins worth of sound.

I want a to know if there is a quicker way.

Someone out there must have a quicker way.

  2. Not sure what you mean by multi channel sound on an SVCD - they only support stereo sound.

I use BeSweet to convert AC3 to MP3, but you'd be wanting to go to 224kbps stereo MP2 for SVCD. I run a 1.5GHz P4, and this takes about 30 mins to do a two hour clip.

    Hope this helps,

  3. SVCDs do support multi-channel MPEG sound, I do recall there was one program that could do this but im afraid ive long forgotten what it was called.

MPEG surround is also supported by (european) DVD players although Ive yet to ever see a commercial released DVD with MPEG audio.

Personally id say give up with SVCDs and go buy a DVD burner but I guess thats not the answer you want !

  4. 6-channel Mpeg will only play IF you have both a DVD player which supports it, AND an amp which also supports the playback. Both are rare, I have only seen ONE post from someone who had both and was successfully playing it. It can be done, though.

  5. The only reason why i was asking is because the movie i want to put on DVD is too long in duration to be encoded in DVD complaint file, so i have used a program called SVCD2DVDMPG to apply a DVD header on the SVCD encoded file, but i want to also keep the AC3 5.1 sound. And because i am using Ulead DVD Workshop the program re-encodes the audio into 2CH. BUT ulead dvd workshop leaves the audio intact if the audio is multiplexed before putting it into Ulead DVD Workshop. This is why I am doing this.

I guess i am going to have to stick it out with Hypercube transcoder

  6. I've done it.

And i didn't have to use Hypercube transcoder.

I basically multiplexed the svcd m2v and the ac3 5.1 using tpmpeg as mpeg 2 vbr then i used the dvd patcher to change the header, and it worked a treat.
