  1. Ok with that out of my system let me RESTART (accadently hit back now must retype EVERYTHING)..

1sat thanks to everyone for posting here helping when they can and being a current forum with messages from this year instead of 1999

here is my system specs, Problems (Multiple posted below)
amd 1900 (1.6 gig running speed)
    memory 256
    sound blaster audigy
    Liteon 411s R-R- R/RW
    cdrw drive
    60 gig and a 30 gig
    windows xp home..

I will short form as i dont want to bore you and i want to be short to the point

DVD Drive came with "Sonic Mydvd" I read bad reviews figured i would give it a honest chance.
after 8 hours of finding footage (some of my captures, some from the net ) NON PIRATED mainly science stuff n babble
I had all menus laid out, all footage was dragged and dropped into "mydvd" and it acted like all clips were ok and or did some looked like converting of them as it needed..

Formats used, MPG, AVI, MOV, and Captured footage i captured using "Pinnacel express"

These all were taken by sonic i edited start frames button frames etc, Tested everything worked and looked good.
When i told it to "BURN" or even "MAKE DVD DIORECTORY"
it always stopped and puked building menu's stating
    Invalid pointer 32768
I read on one site which says it may have lost where a file was, As a result i put ALL files into ONE directory and started a NEW project, To end up at the same result Invalid pointer 32768

After that i gave up on sonic. (unless any of you can offer a fix,)

I tried the TGCenc coder program mentioned all over here, and one video it did fine on, 4 others It mangled the video into what looked like diagnol blocks of squares..

    Sooo here is my delema,
I am trying to burn a simple TEST DVD to make sure my settop handles them ok and what type + or -

I dont even mind trial ware at this point ive considdered sonics software not worth the cd it was put on..

I would like to find some software which can wither have a drag and drop OR a inport feature which would then look at the video and if it needs to be converted etc COuld be by the authoring software it self and not a 3rd party on..

I lost 2 mpg's i cant replace to them getting corrupted by the tgcENC.

So Can you recommend an either fix for sonic my dvd OR
some software which would allow menu editing etc and motion backgrounds and sound on them?.. ALSO REALLY WOULD LIKE
TO HAVE PROGRAM DO ALL CONVERSIONS WITHOUT havng to
    do them seprately..

Menu's and auto conversion are two of my main goals i would like to be able to choose which things to watch and not make it one huge DVD..

    Thank you SO MUCH!!

P.S. errors from sonic Mydvd are as follows
main one when told to burn or make dvd directory
    invalid pointer error 32768

could not complete command due to unknown error

could not complete the last command because: use of invalid editor : MENUCORE:: MENUITEMEDITORBASE

thanks and sorry for typos etc.

SHORT FORM FOR THOES WHO DONT WANT TO READ ALL OF ABOVE.

sonic mydvd does not work simply put

I would like to find a author program for DVD's Which supports any and ALL forms of media and does any encoding and or decoding internally!

Over 12 hours invested for one single TEST DVD..
and stil no luck! thank you all!

  2. Try NeoDVD Plus which works great. Nothing fancy about Neo but it has never failed for me. BTW I also tried Sonic MyDVD which came with one of my drives and Icouldn't get it to do anything (almost as bad a Studio 8 if thats possible).

I should also mention Ulead Movie Factory 2 since it also does what it says it does.

  3. Looks interesting..
Payware.. I must ask a few questions before thinking about buying tho.
    Menu's support motion behind?
buttons freely moved around or stuck with a template only?
automatic conversions of MOV, AVI, etc?
    selectable buttons sceens?
    audio supported on menu's ?
Im not looking for super fancy but i do have the few things I want..

and thanks for replying so fast

  4. If you're looking for fancy menus then NeoDVD is not for you. InterVideo WinProducer3 will do the fancy menus.

We'll its about 20 hours, I have tried many trials,
So far no luck, everything from crashing randomly.
I've also had my footage garbled during conversions..
    Soooooooo,
    i dont know..

Am I asking too much for looking for a program to do sound, motion menu's and simply have it accept ANY file type Mov, mpg1 mpg2, avi ETC ETC??

Pinnacle has added DVD r- r+ support, but does NOT suport MPEG..

Im pretty frsuterated, I didnt want to waste a single dvdr for a few files but for testing It is looking like im going to have to.

Ugh, What ever happend to pride in workmanship?

  7. I know what you're saying and I also went through a bunch of programs (and money)only to find every program I tried had problems. Some didn't work at all, LOL. I guess that's one reason why I just gave up on them and bought a DVD recorder.

  8. I had the same problem, but fixed it yesterday !!!!!!

Are you still checking in here? Maybe not, but I'll tell you anyway...

I had another symptom that clued me in. The default "theme" is
this cloudy blue sky background with a default title. But, on the
computer I wanted to use, the background was black and I couldn't
see any default title. There was just the little box showing the movie I
imported and a little caption under it with the filename.

Anyway the problem is that the program can't find the files it needs
for the default theme. Don't know why yet.

Workaround-> Basically change the theme to one that works!
Click the "edit style" button and a dialog window pops up
There is a dropdown box it the top-left corner. Select "Default Styles"
(None of the "DefaultMotionStyles" seem to work, they are all black!!!)
Pick any of the styles that appear and push the OK button.
Now, you have a valid background and it should work!

Hope you get this because MyDVD is actually a fairly decent program
    for basic DVD creation.
