I have a friend who wants to play Europe DVDs on his TV (we're in the USA). I suggest the Lite-on DVD Player 2002. It will play Europe DVDs region free won't it? Will he have to flash a special firmware? this player is hard to find and is at some odd web sites for $139. Is this a good choice? He doesn't want to spend alot.

I've researched this topic quite extensively and found that the Toshiba SD 4900 is the one model that fits these requirements. It's only $89 at Best Buy. Please see the link for further details.

Thanks for the input and I also mentioned Divx and he also thought that would be a plus, so with Divx and PAL and region free that would be the Lite-on 2002 as the best choice?
