  1. Hi. Only new to this, so hopefully someone may have the answer.
When I burn a DVD (+R or +RW) by either copying a bought DVD or produce home movies, when I play the disk on my Wintel standalone DVD player, it freezes towards the last chapter (close to the end of the film). I can play the DVD in my PC OK. I am saving around 4.4Gb using DVD Shrink to compress my produced videos. (default DVD shrink setting)

What am I doing wrong? Is the file size too big for the DVD player.

    Thanks In advance

    Dave

Bad media probably. Either try different media or try compressing it more with DVDShrink. The problem is out near the edge of the disc which corresponds to the end of the video. Some cheap media has dye coverage issues out near the edge.

Some players are more tolerant of errors than others and that probably explains why it doesn't fail the same on all of them.

Is this media by any chance Princo?

  4. Initially I had Princo's and thought that it may have been the media, So I changed to Ritek for both +RW and +R.

Tannks for you assiatnce, what should I compress to to avoid being close to the edge?, 4.35? Or is it justt rial and error?

Trial and error, though MOST media will be fine if you just stick with 4.3 some will not of course. It really depends on the disc.

Go into the Preference tab and set a custom size for the Target DVD.
