im just trying to make my first vcds for my dvd player and ive been trying to make reign of fire. its an xvid film and i was just wondering are these harder to make than other types eg. divx. its just ive followed the guides and its either been upside down or had bad or non sync sound. ive uninstalled my k-lite codec pack and reinstalled xvid codec and thatdidnt work! so i have now reinstalled my codec pack. any help or links to help would be great, cheers!

XviD isn't hard to encode to vcd/svcd. "Something you downloaded" is an entirely different story. Corrupt files, bad blocks, poor encoding techniques, and VBR/AC3 audio make transcoding challenging, but not impossible.
