i was just wondering how and if u can remove lines that appear during a movie i got a mpeg 2 file and every so often it has lines running down the screen and was wondering is there anyway of getting rid of this someone told me this is called interlacing

if the lines are running down the screen like you say, then this is defintaley not interlacing, interlacing appears as horizontal lines, and you can usually just view the file with powerdvd to clear that up. I'd have to see some screen shots to give you an idea of what the lines you describe are.
