  1. I want to convert my home videos from my DV camcorder to a DVD. I have a DVD burner and I have Adobe Premier to convert to AVI files. But a 1 hour tape is 12GBs and a blank DVD is only 4.7GB's. I know I could convert to MPEG but then I'm sacrificing a lot on quality. Is there another file format that I can use where I don't have to sacrifice as much quality but can still fit at least an hours worth of tape onto a blank DVD?[/u][/code]

Done properly and with only 1 hour on a DVD, if you choose mpeg you should not sacrifice any quality. Even 2 hours should look good.
