  1. Is there any application out there that will convert my full frame home movies into widescreen? I realize that they won't truly be widscreen, but I'd like to give it that look?

Anybody know of such a program?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. That's kind of a wierd request. You could try to give it that look by cropping 20 pixels off the top and bottom, then resizing 20 pixels smaller all the way around. I wouldn't do the resize until after bobbing.

So, like this (starting with 640x480):

    1. bob
    2. crop 20 from top and bottom (new size: 640x440)
    3. resize to 620x400 expanding frame to 640x480
    4. weave

Note, the bob and weave is only for interlaced video. Also note that you are losing 20 pixels from the top and bottom. But it will give you a widescreen effect and only lose image data that is in the overscan area

  3. Use dvdpatcher make sure you select 16x9 first header only and enter the correct resolution and bitrate. Experiment first with a test file and try the file with your authoring and burning programs as the process is irreversible.

  4. Try this:

    1. bob
    2. crop 40 pixels from the top and bottom (new size 640x400)
    3. resize to 560x480, expand frame to 640x480
    4. weave

Author anamorphic DVD. You'd have to resize it to 704x480 to make it dvd compliant. If you capped it at 704 or 720, then you'll have to work out your own numbers.
