Complete novice with probably antique questions.

Hello guys,
I am a complete novice to the concept of dvd burning and to computers themselves and have 3 questions i believe will help me start up.

Firstly, What is the difference between dvd-rw + and dvd-rw - ?
Secondly. how do i find out which one my dvd-rw supports and are there any advantages if it supports both?
Finally, Where do people download the films from? I have done a few searches and have come up with hundreds of sites all offering different price bands. What is the general "rule of thumb" i should adopt before choosing which one to subscribe to?

I was starting to get kind snarky at this, but it turned out to be a legit question.

Gary, start out over there< with the glossary and the "What Is". Further down, check your player to see what format(s) it will play. And the articles as well. Not giving you the brush-off, that's truly the best way for you to find your answers. Come back with more specific questions when you have trouble. Good Luck. .
