those are my 3 choices. I am hoping they will be able to sub me a good drive besides the kypermedia at OfficeMax.. I went in to get the I/O Magic the other day for $69...but they were out. since I have learned that the Pacific DIgitial 8 is also a rebadged Lite-on so I reall want to get it.
If I cant work something out at OM I am ordering off NewEgg and the NEC is just over a $100. I am hoping it will drop a little since the NEC price has dropped but anyhow
should I waite or is the NEC just as good?
I am only concerned about burning copies of my DVDs for my SOny home dvd/cd player . I dont care about cd-burning or whatever I havea cd-burner for that . I want movies that work!!
The order that I have them now:
1 Lite on 811
2 Optiron 401
3 NEC 2500A
I forgot to mention the Pioneer. I am considering that one too. I am also thinking I could live with a 4X burner instead of a 8X burner.
my head is spinning with all the choices. .....

Here's a review of the NEC. In the conclusion it says it has excellant DVD write quality. Only a few weaknesses seem to be in the CDR area, but that's not an area that is of much concern to you.

It says on that review the NEC cannot does not support reading/writing discs larger than 90 minutes. Is this true for DVD-R as I may need to write more than 90 minute discs?
-
yes, someone please answer that question as I may need to be able to burn more than 90 minute disk myself.
if it is the case then what other burner will do that?
again my alternates are the Lite-on, Optiron or the Pioneer -
its talking about 90 and 99 min cd-r's. those are kind of irregular cd-r's, and not many dvd writers can write them. dont worry, it has nothing to do with dvd's.

I've never had a Lite-On drive that I liked. All the NECs I've had have been great. My vote for NEC.
