    My Dell Dimension 4550 does not have an input port to connect a firewire/IEEE 394 cable. I've read that firewire is the best way to go for transferring video from a digital camcorder to my PC (and then to DVD), so what exactly do I need to buy & install into my computer to make this connection? Would this be something that I could install myself? Any ideas where I could get a decent price on such an item? Thanks!!

    You need a PCI Firewire card ($20-$50US), a compatable Firewire cable, and a transfer program. DVIO and WinDV are two freeware ones to start out with.
