  1. Hey,

    recently Nero has been messing up for me (causing PI/PO error spikes at end of disc), so I'm looking for a good alternative. Bundled Sonic RecordNow 4.6 burns ok, but isn't powerful enough feature-wise. Sonic RecordNow 6.5 Deluxe is, well, shiny and stuff, but I don't like it's interface at all, it's not convenient, etc.

    So what are the alternatives? If there are any..

    Oh, I've tried CopyToCD/DVD also, but that wasn't all that convenient either..

    Thanks.

  4. Try CDRWin - it's quite powerful. I also hear that Alcohol 120% is also quite powerful.

  5. What exactly do you want to do.

    Nero is a great burning program but the most recent versions have so much other functionallity that just saying 'alternative to Nero' doesn't really tell us a great deal!

  6. I just want a no fuss no crap burning program, that is burn data CDs and DVDs, nothing more nothing less. Stomp's/Sonic's/Verita's recording engine rocks, but the apps themselves are crap.. so I have no idea what to look at..

    Are you saying that your NERO program file has suddenly degraded? I don't think so. You may want to look elsewhere for you problems.

  9. No i'm not saying Nero became suddenly worse, I'm saying that I finally tracked my problems down to Nero (and i'm not the only one!), and thus I'm looking for an alternative..

    For what? As Nero has more functions than the biggest Swiss Army Knife you can find, (but none of the tools (except for Digital) share the quality of the SAK), what do you want to do?
    <edit>OOps! Now that I've read more of the posts I find that it's for burning CD/DVD. I usually use Burnatonce for CD's and DVDDecrypter for DVD. mkisofs to create the images.

    Gear DVD Standard works good for me....
    SVCD2DVD v2.5, AVI/MPEG/HDTV/AviSynth/h264->DVD, PAL->NTSC conversion.
