Hey everyone. I am stuck trying to do something for a video I am editing. I have VideoStudio7 and Premier 6.5 for editing.....however I think premier is the only one that will do what I want.
What I have done is I set up a tripod.......filmed an empty road for about 5-10 seconds. Then I filmed someone walking down that road.
I want this person to be slowly walking down the road and then slowly fade out but keeping the road still there. So its almost like he vanishes slowly as he is walking.
Is this possible? I thought it might have to do with something with the red elasticity band thing in premiere but I can't think of how to do it. I assume I will be using both video tracks.
I have looked through the Wrigley tutorials awhile ago and thought I saw this but I can't seem to find it again. Thanks for anyone that can help me out with this.

Not exactly what you were after, but it may give you some ideas.

This is very simple and ANY editing program can do it. If the camera is still it doesn't matter if the subject is moving. Just cut the two pieces of video togethor so that the person seems to suddenly vanish. Then add a fade out transition between them. A simple slow fade will work but if your program has some kind of smoky transition that would give a really spooky effect.

Get two clips - one with and one without the person walking.
Place them on the timeline so that they both play at the same time, but the one with the person should be above the one without so that this is the default output. The video without the person will not bee seen on the preview.
Then decrease the gain of the video of the person walking over a period of time. This way, the video without the person will start to show through from underneath.
Vegas does this nicely.Regards,

The red rubberband is the opacity of the track. Place the walking man in one of the supertracks, and use the red rubber band to adjust the opacity. (The lower the rubber band, the more opaque the video clip).
A few things to check: Depending on the editing hardware you use, it will have to render (Use Alt and scrub to see the effect). It will not work in Video Track 1a & 1b - for that you must use a transition. -
or place the track as the main film. and the person walking as an overlay and simply run a slow fade... Ulead does this also.

Wow everyone. Thanks for all the great responses. I will try them all. Seems that all of them will do nicely. Now I got to try again.
Thanks for the premiemre effect......I forgot last time to alt scrub......I was wondering why he wasn't fading and it just simply went to the second clip. It was bugging me.
Thanks again everyone. I appreciate it.
