  1. ok, i have a seriously annoying problem. it seems that whenever i download a svcd file, and use isobuster to extract the mpeg, i get a nero media player file, that is if i just save to desktop or any file, without renaming to mpeg. however if i extract from mpeg data and save as mpeg i do get mpeg. now the problem is, that the file does not extract as a svcd file, but at as a vcd file, which then i put through nero, and nero then reincodes to svcd which takes about an hour, and after burnig the file, it looks distorted, or kind of blurry. Now i used to do this process of using isobuster, only that i would just save to desktop without renaming to mpeg, on my old pc, which recently died on me, without no problems, and it would not give me a nero data file, but a mpeg file, and the file would be svcd like it is supposed to be, and i would have a perfect movie in my hands after burning.
why cant i do this anymore?
why do i keep getting vcd, instead of svcd after extracting the mpeg with isobuster?
please help, beacause this is verry annoying to me.
    thanks

    BodyBuilders1,

If you have an SVCD file, is it an ISO image? If so, just burn to CD and watch the film. Use Nero to do the burn. Don't bother extracting the data and then re-encoding, it just wastes time.

Or if you want to convert to DVD, use a tool such as (S)VCD2DVDMPG to do a conversion.

The reason your extracted mpg is VCD must be the original file was a VCD, check whoever/wherever you got the orignal file from. You can check the extracted mpg using something like AVICodec, which will tell you details of the extracted mpg. If its a vcd (mpg1) create a vcd instead.

  3. thanks for the reply, its a bin file, which means i have to extract the mpeg in order to be able to play on my stand alone dvd player.
not only that but by extracting, i am able to preview the movie before i actually burn this to disk. on another note, alot of files are xvid, which i also have to extract so i can run through tmpeg enc.
as i said, i did not have this problem on my other pc.
    thanks again

    Bodybuilders1,

If you have a bin file and you want to preview it, get a daemon tool. That way you can set up a virtual drive on yor pc.

So install something like Alcohol120% and then you'll see another drive letter added to windows explorer. Alcohol120% will let you place your bin file (mount is the correct term) and you can then see and play the contents of the file you have downloaded. (If this is simplistic, sorry mate)

If your happy with the preview, simply burn the bin file to CD. I think Alcohol120% will allow this, Nero certainly does.

bodybuilders1, you don't have to extract the mpg to play the file, you are adding more steps than necessary.

The other item regarding xvid files, yes you will almost cetertainly have to convert them to format your standalone dvd player will recogonise.

To summarise, if you have a bin(and usually a cue file) burn direct to disc and enjoy on your player, simple as that. To preview first, mount the bin image using a daemon tool.

If the file is an xvid, convert to mpg, author, burn (This is a different process completly)

    Hope this helps bud
