so instead of buying 99 -150 dollar digital voice recorder, i figure my powerbook should be able to handle this..

i did some searching and there is not really a great voice recorder app for saving 1hour-2hour clips to .mp3

the closest i got was recorder.xhead and its nice and all but it seems simple.

    anyone have any suggestions
    thanks

Try the aptly-named "Audio Recorder", which does realtime mp3 encoding at selectable bitrates. It's very simple, but works extremely well.

Nice link mhar, I didnt know about that app.

Galactica, Audio Hijack will also do what you want (plus a lot more). I sometimes use it to record a cassette into the mic port to later turn into a CD.

  4. You could use iMovie or FCP to record line in audio. Hit the Audio Tab in iMovie and watch the mic level bars. Hit the record button on the right.

i just want to record lectures from my classes as mp3 to my hd. the "audio recorder" seems to be working nicely. files are large, but i can probably turn down the quality a bunch!
