I don't know if I'm going to try it because my drive is working fine now. If anyone trys this, let me know what type of results you get.

  2. I'm going to wait on this also. I'm at 2.17 and all is well. I'm following the "Not broken, don't fix" saying.

I'll probably wait also. Any indication that this release offers any improvement or additional capabilities (such as writing to a greater variety of brands of media)?

I did notice that this firmware supports more brands of media. I went ahead and risked it and flashed my drive with 2.50. The EXE file on optorites website didn't work so I had got the bin and flashing tool from www.rpc1.org. It is working the same as far as I can tell, but I do have a copy of the my previous 2.43 in case I need to flash back. I haven't tested HD-Burn yet, but I am hoping this new firmware allows for using HD-Burn on a bigger variety of media because I never got it to work with 2.43 firmware.

  5. I have been using it since it was released....not one problem. I have used HD-Burn on Imation and Memorex and TDK media with no troubles. No troubles with DVD+-R/RW with the same brands and Ritek(RiData).
