Lost DVD Data - I am f*@(*#$ed

I hope someone can help me here. I burned a DVD with data (pictures etc.) but failed to finalize it. I discovered the DVD didn't work after a couple of days and cant resolve the data on the HD. Can i recover the data from the DVD or something? Isobuster tells me there is a blank disc.

If your burning app won't let you just finalise the disc, why not continue the multisession disc by adding just one more file to it (even a text file that just says "test" would be suffice), then finalise that ?

Make sure the previous session is linked to the final one and you should be able to read the whole disc.

Bit odd ISObuster can't see it though, I'm sure I've read unfinalised sessions with it before now.

a failed burn has nothing to do with the original data on your HDD. try rebooting and accessing the data on the HDD again. good luck.

dvdxcopy makes a program to recover data from dvds.

I tried a lot of recovery software but the disk can't be read by the writer. So it isn't recognized by any programs because windows can not mount it. I think i mist the 'Finishing DVD' part of the creation. So finalizing isn't an issue here.

Maybe i try a recovery-company?

Why do you need to recover the data on the DVD? If you just burnt it, wouldn't you have those files on your harddrive?

You'd probably have better luck recovering the files from your hard drive than from the disk. When you delete a file from your hard drive it doesn't actually go anywhere, windows just marks those sectors as being free to write to, and it updates your disk capacity accordingly. NOW, before you use your hard drive anymore use a data recovery tool. I've recovered gigs of data that I had lost in a hard drive crash. If you have a large hard drive its likely you can recover most or all of your lost data even days or months after deleting it.

As for the DVD, have you tried garryheather's suggestion? Does the drive view it as a blank disk like ISObuster? If so then just burn one more file to it and make sure and set it to finalize the disk.

If I use "no multisession" to burn, can I use the method that garryheather said?
Dennuz666,try some other DVD-ROMs may be a way,
don't be worry if you recorded data on that disc, it'll always be there, if it's really important, find a professinal recovering company, but the price may be very high.
