  1. I burned my first DVD last night, took over 5 hours made a super coaster!

System: 900Mhz Athlon, 256 Ram, NEC DVRW NW1300A, ATI All in Wonder 128 Pro, 2-40Gb Drives.
Software ATI MMC 7.2, Roxio Easy DVD Creator Platinum.

I am using digital Video taken directly from a Personal Video Recorder (PVR) hooked to my sattelite dish. My intention is to record movies preferably on DVD to take on our camping/fishing trips.

First let me say that I am considering upgrading to a better Motherboard and faster processor for faster throughput, with 512 MB of RAM. I don't intend to burn a lot but when I do I want better quality and less time than I'm getting now.

Does anyone know if you can use ATI MMC 8 or another version of their MMC with the 128 Pro or are you limited to what ATI lets you download for your card? Does your video card have anything to do with being able to capture better quality video i.e. MPEG2 versus MPEG1. Or does that make any difference? I have read several posts and know that some of you think ATI and Roxio's products aren't much but i intend to make the best of what I have.

    Any help appreciated.

Roxio scared me off with their CD software. Is their DVD stuff any better?

  3. First of all I am NOT a pro, I mostly use my puter for productivity stuff, some gaming and some CD/DVD burning. I liked the Roxio Easy Cd Creator (Platinum), it did a fine job for me. Don't know enough about DVD burning to say how good or how bad their Easy DVD Creator (Platinum) is going to be. Probably a lot better than i know how to make it!!

It is possible to use a newer version of MMC with your card. I just ran into this problem. See this post https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=204375
My system is only 100MHz faster than yours. I have a 1GHz Athalon, and 512 SDRam, and I'm doing fine. See www.lordsmurf.com for some good info on capturing. I'm just learning all this myself, so I won't make suggestions. Read up though, lots of good info out there.
