  1. Hey

Trying to put 2 VCD in 1 DVD. Ripped the vcd and converted dat to mpeg. Glued the 2 parts in to 1. Then authored in TMPGEnc (meanwhile fixed the GOP size in mpeg-vcr because TPGEnc DVD Author complained about it upon loading of the file).

Result: video is aparently normal but subtitles and some details in the picture flicker alot - I think it has something to do with interlaced/non-interlaced altough the original VCD didnīt show it.

    Questions?

Feel free to give your opinion.

  2. Update

the flicker is only on my TV - the same movie in my pc monitor is ok.

Is there something that can be done about this?

This is a problem I've had with some MPEG Video files are you playing the File on your PC normally used for DVD's such as PowerDVD or WinDVD as this normally will display the file deinterlaced , however once on the TV the pictures has all the problems . I did a similar thing with VCD however I did not touch the Video stream at all just ignored the GOP problems and resampled the audio , the results were excellent and there was no interlacing problems .

  4. In my first atempt I did that - I ignored the GOP problems and just resampled the audio. The result was the same.

Then I thought it should be the GOP thing but after fixing it and burning it again it was the same.

The really weird thing for me is that the original VCD is made for TV and plays normally.

    Anyway to fix this?

  5. yep i can sympathise

i have had the same problem with some vcds i converted like you did.

I have a pioneer 503D carousel player and subs and some elements in the back grounds flicker very annoying and made my eyes hurt

I chucked it in to a TEAC player that i have at home also and no problems

maybe it could just be the dvd player

  6. Roger that doen1000

I have a pioneer player also.

I certainly will have to give it a go in other players.

Do you think encoding it to mpeg2 will solve it? - just asking before starting a 10h encoding

    Thanks
