If I live to 150 I don't think I'll ever a see a funnier sight than the wedding I went to last week.
There were three of them, yes three of them, sat on chairs at the edge of the dancefloor, not one of them under 65 years old, all dressed in their best flowery dresses, clunky shoes and six months old wrinkled brown tights, all singing along and clapping their hands, completely oblivious to the lyrics.

You had to see it to believe it.
Oh, had I only had a comcorder with me.
Just wanted to share that with you.

    i love myself
i want you to love me
    when i feel down
    i want you above me
    i search myself
i want you to find me
    i forget myself
i want you to remind me

    i don't want anybody else
when i think about you i touch myself
    i don't want anybody else
oh no, oh no, oh no

you're the one who makes me go money
you're the sun who makes me shine
when you're around, i'm always laughing
    i wanna make you mine

    i close my eyes
    and see you before me
    think i would die
if you were to ignore me
    if you could see
just how much i adore you
i'd get down on my knees
    i'd do anything for you

    i don't want anybody else
when i think about you i touch myself
    i don't want anybody else
oh no, oh no, oh no

    i love myself

    i want you above me
    i've searched myself

reminds me of a Twilight Zone episode - the Government decides that people over 70 are of no use to society, so they kill them off. A gov't bureaucrat sends his dad off to die, over dad's protestations.

the bureaucrat's son thinks it's a great idea, and joins the Gov't, and pushes to lower the age to 50... just about the bureaucrats' age....

  10. It was the Divinyls.

One of my favorite songs of all time.....heheh. I have actually done reports about this song in school. A few times. The one teacher that was mormon didnt think it was so funny.

Divinyls sang it.......Australian group. Consists of two members. One hit wonders of the 80s.

I guess the reason I said they were one hit wonders was because I Touch Myself was the only one that really took off world wide, reaching high spots on the UK, Australian, and US Charts.

He may mean "I aint gonna eat my heart out any more" (see above) but BJ_M thought it might be Britney so there's no gauarantee they ever did that song
    Thanks for the singer name
(I've just looked on google, that is certainly not who I pictured singing it

    no comment there (above) --

"I aint gonna eat my heart out any more" got popular because it was used a lot in 'Buffy the vampire slayer' (the movie) -- but not really a hit per say - true ....

"She was part of "diVINYLS". This band has been around since 1981, churning out quite a few commercially successful albums which sold well in in Australia/NZ, Britain and parts of West Europe. For most of their existence, they were a 4 or 5 piece band. In the early 90's, diVINYLS had a hit single with their song "I Touch Myself" which was nominated for Video of the Year at the MTV Video Music Awards 1991."

Britney DID do this song (as a cover i have learned) -- it got her into a bit of trouble when she dropped the good girl image ... (along with the pics )

  19. ya that picture is def. not a very good one. That looks like it is her singing last year or something.....lol. She def looked better in the early 80s. Guess there is just something about a girl talking about masturbation that holds a spot near and dear to my heart

BJ_M, that is not a good pic!
I did see one I quite liked but it was outnumbered twenty to one so uploading it would have been unfair!

She had a major makeover by the time that song came out

Christina Amphlett was once compared to being a cross between Patti Smith and Angus Young

She had very bad teeth and a rat is crawling over Chrissie on the Divinyls first album cover.

Tim Farris of INXS described her as being "a bit strange" and the late Michael Hutchence added "but a lot a fun at parties".

I had seen the Divinyls perform many times during the '80s (long before I Touch Myself)
They were a wild band - very cool though.

MTV gave them much air time, despite their albums not charting that well in the U.S.
I still have all of 'em

You can also find them on several '80s teen movie soundtracks (Sixteen Candles, Nightmare On Elm Street 4, etc)

Christina also had a great deal of exposure (as most female singers have) unlike Britney and Janet who are only teasers.

She also sang with Icehouse (also from Oz)

Check 'em out - they had a lot of great songs.

    That's good, Logan's Run, kaput at 21st b'day.

Where would all you kids be today? Soylent Green?

BTW, that was a book, WAY before it became a movie, much better book.

And, remember, no 20 something is sending you off to die in foreign lands, they're all old farts.

    The Queen is what, 70?

Ah, well, some pipple get old, some are lucky, die young, make a good looking corpse.

And, really, you go see a dead person, invariably someone says, ah, he looks so good, and the other says, well he should, he just came out of the hospital.

    Cheers,

    George
