Do you tell others at home or school or work about things that happen here?

"Hey babe. Earlier today jeex started a poll and Will Hay answered it. Very funny. Then ironballs and beavereater replied to it as well. Oh yeah, tgpo is getting married."

Something like that. When ever I do it people look at me like I'm an idiot, which I am, because I don't know ya'lls real names and use your screen names.

  2. My wife reads a lot of these posts, but I don't think she's logged in since last summer.

She says the entertainment here is better than most anything on TV. I'd agree with that.

On a parallel thought, do you find yourself using your screen name in the course of daily business? I've been getting mail under the name Indolikaa Khan for years, especially with eBay and Amazon z-shops.

    Oh man, do I ever?
The guy in my dept gets links fired at him all the time, and whilst he hasn't registered yet I reckon its only a metter of time.

    Will Hay?

Yup, been using it for years
    doom9, canopus, ulead etc.
Even my home phone and bank accounts have some reference to it.
Hell, I had to speak to my home phone provider last week and the girl on the line asked me if it was a reference to the old comic actor I like.
We then spent ten minutes talking about old classic British movies.
If I can't get my name or a similar version I don't register (man, that's sad!).
Not been a problem so far though.

I do, especially during the juicy exchanges last summer about PM's in the public forums. my wife was actually coming in to read the threads...

as for my screen name, I was crossedout for years, but I couldn't get the domain when I wanted to split from AOL. so I morphed into housepig, I use that now for my other forums. my friend sent me a knit cap with housepig embroidered on it, been wearing it all winter...

  10. Backing up DVDs and video capturing/editing still a fairly unique set of skills to have. A lot of people just go cross-eyed when they see me working on something.

I do sometimes (rarely) talk about the more remarkable occurances to my friends. tgpo's engagement was one of them.

    Smart arse.

Sometimes I will mention one or two things in real life, not much though. As for using my screen name in real life I don't really do that either although on other forums on the net I will use the name or something similar.

Are you kidding? I keep all goings on here a deep, dark secret. The weirdness I find on this site need to be confined for the safety of the general public. Actually, when I mention this site, I get a long blank stare. Yes, we are strange. But I like it here.

I do mention some of the more interesting stories but won't go into details - I won't mention other forum members specifically.

As for SquirrelDip, only use it on-line - any site where I have the option of selecting a username I'll use SquirrelDip (some places have you login with your e-mail address). Some others at work know about the name but only with respect to on-line.

    No, never.

About the only thing we have in common here is this video hobby. In the real world, I rarely talk about computers or video editing.
Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........
