I can't for the life of me get the capture driver loaded!!! Suggetions please??

Install brand new AIW VE, then re-boot, cancel all "Hardware Detected" notices. Installed DirectX9 b, downloaded and installed WinEncoder 9, re-booted again. Installed the latest drivers from ATI (WDM Drivers, then Display drivers, re-booted. Go to device manager and look under Sound, Video and Game controllers for ....

ATI Specialized PCD WDM VBI Codec
    ATI WDM Rage Theater Audio
    ATI WDM Rage Theater Video
    ATI WDM TV Audio Crossbar
    ATI WDM TV Tuner
    Specialized MVD WDM VBI Codec

....per the release notes they should be there, but nothing??????????????

The card is not recognized by MC1.4, VirtualVCR, VDub...etc

I currently use a Matrox p650 w/Dual DVI to drive my monitors (AGP slot) and only want to use the AIW VE to do analog capture of S Video/TV.

The display functionality works fine, I can extend my desktop to a TV using the card using S Video out.....but the capture driver/functionality wont work....UGH! ........what am I missing???

I've tried installing from the disk provided which is MMC 7.9...didnt work. Then I tried using the most up to date drivers and MMC 8.8...didn't work.

I think it is becuase this is the second card in the computer. AIW VE spec states "ALL-IN-WONDER® VE is required to be the primary graphics adapter in the PC" Since I'm not using the disply features only capture I don't know why that would be an issue?????

During the install process the WDM capture driver is loaded first so you would think it would at least load.

I bought the AIW VE for the Theater 200 chip cause I thought it is supposed to provides better capture quality but maybe I should try the TV wonder Pro since it may be more suited for a multi card setup??

as far as i know if your card is an all in wonder you have to use it as your primary video card. otherwise i don't think it will work properly. from the posts i've read from lord smurf if your going to get an ati card then get an all in wonder and stay away from the others. if your lucky he will notice this post and offer some pointers. he is an ati guru. my only advice would be to switch the ati to your primary video card and see if that works. i use an all in wonder radeon and it works great. the theater chip makes a big difference. i used to have an all in wonder 128 card and the captures were nowhere near as good.

    good luck.

I used to do this. Then I quit. But it works.

You'll need to use the ATI as primary graphics. Switch in BIOS for non-capture sessions.

Since you should reboot before capture sessions anyway (safest) then this is not out of the way really, just go into BIOS at reboot and then make changes.

I just decided one day I could live with ATI only, put the other card in a drawer.

Thanks Sir Smurf...so the TV Wonder Pro wouldn't have this issue since it is only a tuner/capture card right???

How does the Chip in TV Wonder Pro compare to Theater 200 for capture??

My challenge is I'm trying to drive two DVI LCD's...ATI doesn't make a Dual DVI with TV/S Vid in card. Have you tried two ATI's in the same box...I think I read it is not supported ???

The BT/CX chips... frankly ... suck.
The Theatre chips are the only ones I suggest.
