I would like to purchase a certain PAL DVD and then back it up in such a way as it becomes an NTSC DVD. Is that possible? I have the backup apps and DVD2oneX, plus FCP4 and DVDSP2 (if that helps). Thanks for the info - good or bad.

The general consensus is yes, you can convert, and no, you probably don't want to. If you decide you want to, however, try MPEG2works. It has a nifty button to click, that should do everything for you. It might even keep your video in sync. Sacrifice something nice to the video gods, to make sure.
If it isn't broken, take it apart and find out why.

You would spend more than $30 of your time, and for which amount you can get a PAL/NTSC capable player at best buy.
