  1. i've just VCDed Mummy returns, i used TMPGE and 4:3 525 Aspect ratio. when i played the cd on my playstation the right side of the screen was chopped off. it's suppose to look like watching a widescreen video like when i play it on my pc but the tv shows smaller blacked area on top and bottom and chops off the right side, i would say about 20% of the picture area. i didn't have this problem working with SNATCH, it came out perfectly fine. i don't know what happened. i used the MPEG corrector before burning it, because the stupid TMPGE gave me this error crap and wasted my cd. i didn't use mpeg corrector on the snatch. could this be the reason? thnaks for answering.

why does TMPGE give me so many errors anyways? sound sucks so i try 2lame and the freaking exe file doesn't even work, mpeg takes 20 hours to convert, file cut with it has errors in it, and now something i haven't seen comes up. keeps me amused all the time.

What version of TMPGenc are you using? Some older versions had a bug where the picture wouldnt display correctly when played back.

In my opinion TMPGenc is absolutely horrible for cutting mpeg2 files and I am fairly certain that it does not output svcd compliant files. You should always demux your files in TMPGenc and remux in bbmpeg. This is the only method which I believe creates svcd compliant files.

toolame has to be run from a command prompt. The easiest way to use it is to just use it as an external plugin in TMPGenc. Go to options/environmental settings/external tool and load the toolame.exe in the layer 2 box.

ok TMPGE i downloaded just couple weeks ago so i'm sure it's up to date, and i always use regular vcd properties since PS doesn't play SVCDs. im getting really pissed off at this VCD thing, i just don't seem to get it right. i think the easiest way to solve my problems is to get a 2 grand computer from Compaq. na i wouldn't do that even if i have a gun in my face.
i'm saying i just want to forget this horror and just play the damn file in my computer. but my Celeron 400 can't handle divx files. this is why i turned my interest to VCDs. but for some reason my computer doesn't play VCDs i've created. and they work on my playstation. mummy for example, with horrible sound quality that doesn't sync and the right half chopped off. i've tried sasimi, it doesn't play. I -ON video, which when i execute it it says i need to install Movie player 2.0, which when i downloaded and attempted to install it my windows 98 says error while installing, and files not being able to open and crap. i'm about to take a hammer n destroy my computer. **** this shit man, i've never heard of such thing like this. works on playstation but doesn't work on PC? how the hell did Nero format it into a working VCD then? perhaps i should try playing the .dat file with nero then. this whole crap is wasting so much of my time, i thought 20 hour decoding was good enough, but it's not even a beginning to my frustration.
i'm planning on putting P3 800 in place of my celeron 400, add 128 more ram to make it 256, buy a new 40G hard drive to use with my 7G, and reformat my current hard drive to wipe out codecs cookies bugs trojans etc. off the surface. i think this is only solution to play .avi or divx file perfectly without having to convert it to MPEG so my celeron 400 can let me watch a movie. my gforce 2 gts i don't know if it's even working at its fullest.

BUT ADAM, one thing! i love computers and i'm gonna major in computers, i know this for sure. but do you think i should just settle for P3 800 for now, or should i invest more and get Athlon xp 1800 with new motherboard and sets of DDR rams? what do you think?
