I notice after my friend upgraded to win xp that he had a problem where most of the time when he put any kind of media in that most software wont see the blank media but wll always see the drive itself....... well i told him it never happen to me b4 but finally did when u upgrade one of my pc's to win xp and using record now it wouldnt detect my media..... well i tried 2 of the same disk and it didnt work.... but when i tried another disk of a different kind it work with no problem!!!!! well i picked up 2 different disk of the first kind i tried and it didnt work again!!!!!!! which is sayin that it just wont pic up certain media..... is there a software fix for that?????? i have basically dl every update win xp have and it doest the same thing on the other disk..... but not the apple disk

  2. If your talking about a 3.5" floppy disk... WinXP has a known error when reading unformatted floppies. It will not format them in some cases. Not sure where on the Micro$oft site to find it but it's there. You have to open it in DOS then type format A: or something like that.

  3. no....... basically since i upgraded to win xp certain software dont pic up all dvd and cd media...... for example...... it wont pic up that i have a blank memoerx dvd in the dvd recorder but it sees my apple dvd

  6. Two questions for you:

    1.) Does it see all the drives in the BIOS as your computer boots up?
    ~~~~ You may have the check that it's in the BIOS/CMOS settings if it goes to fast.

    2.) Does it see the drive in Windows (My Computer)
    If not, go to the IDE controller in the "Device Manager" Section and DELETE ALL of the IDE controllers. Then reboot. When you reboot it will "find" it again.

    Those are just some quick steps to try.

  7. all the drives can be seen in the bios and thru xp .....its just certain software cant see the blank disk i put in it or certain blank disk

    Did you try re-installing all the software that's doesn't read the disk? That would be my first try.

  10. What program(s) are you talking about?

    Also change the IDE controllers to "DMA if available" under the device manager properties
