I have been happily ripping backups of my DVD collection at home with DVD Decrptor 3.1.2, DVD Shrink 3.1 & Nero v5.5.10.54 for the past few months.

I recently upgraded to Nero 6 Ultra & DVD Decryptor 3.1.9 and since installing them, my rip speed has PLUMMETED.

I always had good rip speeds using DVD Decryptor and for most discs (7 or 8 GB), I could rip one to my hard drive with 10 or 12 minutes.
Since installing the latest Nero & DVD Decryptor, it seems to be taking around 30 minutes.

I suspect Nero had something to do with it, but I can't be sure. I have been keeping DVD Decrptor up to date without any trouble, but I noticed the problem when I made the jump from Nero 5.5 to 6.0

I am gonna try a clean load on a spare hard drive tonight and see what I can get with older versions of the software.

In addition to any pearls of wisdom y'all might have for me, what rip speed should a rig such as mine expect to attain?

    Thanx in Advance

The first thing I would do is check to see if DMA is enabled on your primary IDE controller.

I probably should have mentioned that.

I checked prior to posting, and yes, DMA in enabled for that controller.

Not sure if this is important, but I am seeing these 2.0x speeds on both DVD-9's and DVD-5's I haven't really tried ripping from dvd-r's.

Sounds like nero's aspi driver has taken over. I would reinstall your aspi drivers using something like forceaspi.
    If in doubt, Google it.
