  1. i bought 2-50 pks of imation dvd+r's from office depot a couple wks ago, i think it ended up being $.69 each.

i swear this order has been a curse to me. it's a long story, but basically it took me 2 wks of going b/t the store i picked it up from & their 1-800 customer service just to get my $ back after being denied a $20 coupon at pick-up, then being double-charged, etc., etc. obviously i am a bitter...

but that is besides the point. all together there are 4 spindles. 3 of the spindles, the dvd's appear to be bumpy along the outer edges of the disks. will i have problems with burning or playback on these disks?

the store is 1/2 hr out of my way, don't wanna waste my time going back there for a 4th time for yet another problem. their customer service sucks!

    r these disks defective?

Get dvdinfo and check the manufacturer of the disc. If they're Ricoh's, you'll probably be ok. If they're CMC MAG, take them back.

  3. Hi, had some GO3 with the exact same problem, its the glue holding the two layers together. Mine burnt fine, they are okay as long as there is no visible defects on the writing surface. BTW if they are CMC as mentioned take em back. also if youre not happy take em back.

  4. i also got 4-25pak spindles of Imation from OM. they are Ricohs and burn fine, even with bumpy edges. most first-quality dvd+r i have purchased in the last year have been of the bumpy edge variety. only non-bumpy edge disc i got were unbranded 4x ones. go figure...

I would stick well clear of anything from imation. My experience with them has led me to believe that they are so crap, they couldn't even spell imatation correctly and that's how they come up with the name imation.
    If in doubt, Google it.

    Ah, actually that's "imitation"..

And guys, note that the adhesive is what's SUPPOSED to be between the discs. The bumpy edges means there was just a bit extra squeezed out. I'd expect that a lot of the defectives that don't burn the last bit are because they had too little glue so didn't make the thin layer to the edge. If you put some in the middle, and press together, and it doesn't have enough to go all the way to the edge, you'll get gaps etc near the edge that could easily interfere with the optical properties. At least if you have a few bumps on the edge you know they didn't skimp so much that the outer ring of the disc is crap from that.
