    I purchesed a 25 count spindle of the best buy tdk dvd+r. Dvdinfo pro states "Manufacturer ID cannot be read". My Memorex dvd+rw can be id. My drive is a NEC ND 1300a. any ideas

    just means it can not be read ... as in there may not be any on there ..

    I had the same problem with my 1300a. You have to burn something to it first and then check the media code. It will come up then.

    Yea burn info on the disk and then do a info read out on the media.

    Yep....some media(at least for me anyway) will not give you a media code until there is data on it. Some of my Philips discs are this way.

    Yup, my philips +r media is like this, along with most other kinds of +r media on my 1300A.
