  1. Hi,

    This may seem like a dumb question but...

    I've been burning 2 differnt types of my DVD-R's at the following times. How fast is this in relation to 4x/6x/8x/etc?

    Brand 1: Accu Media 4.7GB General DVD-R at 25 minutes or so..

    Brand 2: Accu Media 4.7GB 1x-4x DVD-R at 14 minutes

    How fast are these above times?

    also, is there a chart that shows how fast in relation to time the speeds are?

    thanks,
    Kat

  2. Well, It all depends on how big the file your burning is!
    What progs are you using? They will tell you at what speed you are writing

    This is a 2x dvd burn.

    This is a 4x burn

    1x would be 58-60 min
    2x is 25 min
    4x is 14 min
    8x would be about 7min i suppose (i have never seen an 8x burn yet)

  5. I am using Sonic Record Now 6.5.1

    It does not show the speed of the burn, only the actual time that is left..

    Im burning video, a full disck worth.

    so basically a 15 minutes burn is about 4x?

    thanks again..

  6. My experiences on full (4472MB) disks

    2xDVD-R/W takes 29 min
    2.4xDVD+R/W takes 23-24 min
    4xDVD±R takes 14:35 min

    When they talk about 8xDVD burning it means Z-CLV (Zoned Constant Linear Velocity)

    It could take 8-10 minutes

  7. 1x = 1385kb/s so just do the math. But as stated about to burn a full disc takes:

    1x = 60min
    2x = 30min
    4x= 15min

    the new 8x drives are CLV NOT CAV so it actually takes about 9min to burn a full disc.
