Opinions needed on Nec 2500a vs Pioneer A07

I sold my LG 4040 and now looking for another burner. I am stuck on deciding to get the NEC or Pioneer (CDN price here is about the same, NEC $190 and A07 $209). I have a Pioneer A05 I've been using a while now but I am intrested in getting some writer that can do -R at 8x. +R at 8x is not important since I use a Plex 708a for that. I use these in my side business and need something that is fast. Some of my clients DVD players dont seem to play some of the +r media well, but seems to play the -r stuff from the 105. My prob it takes a long burn time with the 105, used to the Plex for fast burns so I am looking for some fast -r burner. Also any opinions on -R media types that burn at 8x (8x or 4x speed)would be appreciated. Been using Memorex and Maxell (jewel cases) 4x -R in the A05, will these burn at 8x in the either drive.

I seen a review that stated the NEC ND2500 will write at 8x with {DV 3050} Verbatim 4x 4.7g DVD-R discs. I don't know about the A07, but I heard people saying they will write at 8x but the dvd-r dicss are not on the market yet???? I'm in the same dilemma in the UK. They both seem like good units.

i jsut posted a similar message, I dont no if its best to try something new or stick with what you know. I have the pionner 106 and its good with the right media

Trying to make the same decision myself.

One thing to note:
The 107/A07 won't burn at a higher speed than the media is rated for. So if you want 8x you will have to wait until 8x certified media is available

I recently dumped my Optorite DD0203 in favour of the ND2500A.

I have to wonder WHY I waited so long !

The NEC burns everything including Princo, and they play on everything I own.

Optorite owners would kill for this kind of compatibility.

Still using up my stocks of x4 media so no comment on the x8 capabilities as yet
