  1. Hi !

I have a problem related to DVDShrink and shrinking a music DVD...

When I have made the "Open disk" and after that a "Reauthor", then I drag the files I want to keep on my DVD-R disc, it seems that DVDShrink NOT are shrinking...
The tab become green AND some in the end part, red. Shouldn't the whole tab become green in "Reauthor" ?
When I try to make a backup, DVDShrink tells me that, the files is to big for my DVD-R ....

Is there a protection on the original DVD against DVDShrink ?
Someone who have had the same problem ?

Is there a solution for this, because I want to shrink the WHOLE music DVD on my DVD-R ...

    Suggestions ???

DVD Shrink does not shrink audio only video
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

  3. Welcome to the forums, mrleffe.

I'm affraid you've probably reached DVD Shrink compression limit.
If you have already removed all unwanted audio streams, your option is to shrink twice.
Ignore the "File too big" error message, then shrink the files a second time using "Open Files".

  4. another and maybe a less appealing option would to be split the disc into 2 discs.

When I backed up speed racer, even with compression at the max, the dvd would not fit on 1 dvdr, so I chopped it off at the midway point, shrunk and burned it. THEN, did the second half.

Sorry handyguy, but not only is this incorrect (you can do DVD5s, compilations, etc etc with DVD Shrink), but it's also totally irrelevant in this case.

  7. Ok fellows and thanks for reply !

I suspected something like that, because it showed me that there was some shrinking ... Couldn't just understand why it was too big!
The solution to make a "double shrink" could be something to test. Wonder how the quality will be after the second shrinking. I will do some testing and make a disc to compare to the original!

Nice forum and think I will have use for it even later on !

Shrink doesn't like multi-angle, some DVD's wind up 10 GB or more, when in fact the main movie is under 4 GB.

If you re-author Main Movie only, and drop unwanted subs/audio it should always fit (except for the 9 GB episodic disks). Of course compressing 8.5 GB to 4.2 GB can have some interesting affects........

  10. dd, sure you can use dvdshrink for dvd5s but its a lot easier with dvddecryptor as it reads & writes them.

you can do what dd suggested
If you have already removed all unwanted audio streams, your option is to shrink twice.
    or
you can use a combination of automatic and ratio compression. for example if you are backing up your entire dvd (no reauthoring) with all settings at automatic AND the shrink bar is partially red (never seen that happen myself but i suppose it can) go to let's say the EXTRAS folder (NOTE: you can do the entire folder or just a couple of the extras within the folder) and reduce the automatic compression ratio to a lesser amount via the ratio bar just until the shrink bar is all green (4464M). then back up using DA. good luck.

    Nope, it's the official-unofficial site.
