  1. I'm putting my dad's VHS home videos onto DVD and I'd like to send them to him as I go along.

So, what is the best and least expensive way to send a single cd or DVD? I expect there to be tradeoffs between sending in jewel case vs. sending in a sleeve etc...

    Thanks!

Netflix sends out DVDs in a paper envelope and they seem to get there safely...and cheaply. I believe it costs the same to send a DVD as it does to send a first class letter.

I've always used padded envelopes just to be safe. I don't remember exactly how much I paid but I'm certain it wasn't more than $2 with the cost of the envelope included.

  4. I just sent a DVD to my friend in Greece for 2.40 $ by Airmail + cost of the envelope(.50 $). so domestic should be less that that.

Staples sells antistatic Floppy/CD Mailers 6 for $5.00. They are pretty rugged and can be sent within the US with two First Class stamps. Beats going to the Post Office!

  6. i just stuck it in a envelope put some tape on the label side so it would stick to the envelope to prevent it from moving around. lick the stamp and throw it in the mail. haven't had a problem yet....

  8. A USPS priority mail padded envelope might work and the cost is not very expensive.

USPS small size (envelope or box) is something like $4.85 up to one pound (I think). If you do this method, go with the box, it provides a bit more security for the DVD.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

  10. The USPS has a "media" rate for books, CDs, DVDs, etc. I don't know if it would be cheaper than some of the other way's listed above, but it's definately something to check out.

  11. get a plastic clam shell "C-shells" this weighs almost nothing, isnt brittle and fits nicely inside a 1st class envelope. 27p (or equivalent). Screenselect use them..
Corned beef is now made to a higher standard than at any time in history.
The electronic components of the power part adopted a lot of Rubycons.

  12. I think I'll try the envelope and a first-class stamp (I may put the DVD in a sleeve inside the envelope). Thanks everyone!

I shipped discs from the US to a friend in Korea, I managed to get 5 discs in paper sleeves into a US Global Priority flat (stiff) envelope.

$5 for 2-3 day shipping, halfway across the world - the discs were in perfect shape when they arrived.

in the US, if you're only shipping a few discs, First Class should only be about $1.06 - $1.29.
