Make sure the jumpers on the drives are set to "CS" (Cable Select), and that you're using 80 wire (40 pin) cables.

I would try swopping the drive cables first. See if the other drive will work.
Make sure they are both pinned (single) and on the ends of the ribbon cables.
Sometimes pins will push out of power connectors enough to not make good contact. Check the connector.
Boot the system and feel if the drive is spinning up by holding you fingers on it. If it's spinning up you will be able to feel it.
Some PCI slots share IRQs with onboard hardware like my PCI slot #2 shares with my onboard Raid controller. You may wind up moving the card to a different slot if you continue to have trouble.
Besides that I don't know. Maybe the card is bad?
Good luck. -
If it's a promise, check their site (maybe the box) to see if it supports optical drives.
Both my 100 and 133 do not. I had to put in a 66 to connect my 3rd optical drive.
If it doesn't you have a choice of connecting one of the HDDs to that card so you can use the onboard IDE for the optical, or take it back, if you can, and buy the SIIG model that does support opticals. Not all of theirs do, either.
You don't need 80 wire for an optical. Even with aHDD, and 40 wire, it will tell you you have 40 wire, will go to ATA33. 80 wire is at least twice the price of 40.

Your right gmatov.
I didn't notice he said DVD drive, I though we were talking about 2 hard drives.
I'm sorry, I was wrong.
Good luck. -
Bottle,
No problem, reread the posts before mine, had to reread the first to make sure I saw DVD on ATA.
Dad,
What was the outcome? Is it fixed?
Cheers,
George
