This has got met!! While capturing vhs footage, the brightness changes from bright to dark. Sometimes gradually and sometimes suddenly.
I'm using Asus 7700 pro. My hard drive is only half full.
It doesn't do it with all vhs tapes. The problem tape is fine on TV.
Any suggestions please!!

Presuming you are using a commercial videotape, this is one of the copy protection schemes. You need a video stabilizer/copyguard remover. These are widely available at Frys, back of electronics magazines or do a web search.

I have the same problem with my V7700 deluxe card, but I'm not sure that it's a MACROVISION issue.
It happens with personal VHS recordings from TV, commercial VHS without MACROVISION.
DON'T happens with new VHS tapes WITH MACROVISION.
NEVER happens on TV captures, and analog DVD captures.
NEVER happens on the S-Video connector, only on the composite one.
To me, it's related with the quality of the recording. Old tapes and 2nd generation copies are more subjected to this. When the luminance component of the signal drops a little, the internal circuitry of the card goes crazy.
I'm thinking to test such device, but I don't think it have to be Macrovision remover. One with TBC (time base correction) would be more appropriated.Fran-K
