    Hi
I have the following problem: i had two mpg-files (mpeg2) of about 1 gb size each. so I thought, in order to make a svcd, i join them using ffmpegx und then split them again in three parts. so i joined them - the result is perfect and can be watched in vlc-player. BUT I CANNOT SPLIT them again - if I choose "author" from the tools, I get a .mpg-file of about 4kb after 1 sec. If I try to make a svcd, I get this error message (the process fails after 30 seconds):

**ERROR: [yuvscaler] Could'nt read YUV4MPEG header!
**ERROR: [mpeg2enc] Could not read YUV4MPEG2 header: system error (failed read/write)!

please, anyone, help? CAN I FIX THIS FILE SOMEHOW? I wanna make a svcd...
    thank you

If the mpeg file is not a SVCD, you have to re-encode it in order to make a SVCD. Just splitting will not make it a SVCD.

Enable the option "Decode with mplayer"

    Thank you for your answer!
If I try to re-encode the joined file as vcd, I get the error message above. If i try to re-encode it by using mplayer to endode it as you said, the app crashes (it just does not start and the process monitor does not even open, and it doesn' react anymore)... does this mean the joined file is in some manner corrupt? I joined it by using ffmpegx... and I trashed the old files (me stupid ).
    thank you again

I mean re-encode it as SVCD, and not vcd, of course (it's an mpeg-2 file)

  5. The file is possibly corrupt. Try again by enabling "Open terminal window" this time.

I've been having this problem too. I transcoded four .vob files to four .mpg movies using the exact same ksvcd profile, then tried to join the resulting .mpg movies (four 300mb files joined to make two 600mb .mpg files).

The individual .mpg files will author to ksvcd, but the joined files won't. I have two perfect .mpg files which will fit neatly on two CD's. but I can't author them to SVCD (or XSVCD as the case may be).

    Suggestions?

If I re-transcode the joined file, can I use passthrough settings to speed the VERY long process?
