  1. I’ve asked a few questions about Capture and received a lot of info, thank a lot! This forum is great.

So tell me if this seems like a good plan of attack to capture my Digital8 and VHS to my computer to do simple edits then burn to DVD?

    Review of my setup:
    P4 3.06
    512 DDR 400 RAM
    ATI AIW 9800 Pro (128)
Sony TRV 250 (yea, yea I know..)

I already have the AIW Pro so as far as hardware goes, I’m going to want to stick with that. So, if I want to capture from my Sony TRV 250 I should buy a firewire card and:

Use firewire to connect to my system or the S-Video in the case of capturing old VHS?

Capture using ????? software and set my capture data type to AVI (uncompressed) or MPEG 1 or MPEG 2 or ??????

Edit the clips using Adobe Premiere or anything but Pinnacle Studio 8. Maybe VirtualDUB ??????

And lastly burn my edited video to DVD using ????? software.

Thanks a lot. I’m getting close to a good beginning to end solution, I just need to fill in some gaps.

since you are using an ati card i would suggest going to www.lordsmurf.com and reading all the guides and info he has there. he is a guru when it comes to ati. his site also has good info on avi vs. mpg capturing.
