I've now captured much VHS footage in MPEG2 format of old low quality source material. I have a new VCR with TBC built in which has dramatically improved the quality. Mostly I dump it into VS7, cut out unwanted material, then "smartrender" to get a mpeg file which I author onto DVD. This has worked great for my purposes.
However, my most recent capture causes VS7 to quit when it gets roughly halfway through the smartrender. It just exits out of the whole program. I captured again, and same result. Has anyone run into this before? I'm sure its probably due to some problem in the source, but several months ago, I captured the same material (w/o my "good" VCR) and had no problems (although the overall quality sucked). As I scan through the raw footage, I can't see anything abnormal.
If anyone has any ideas, i'd appreciate it.
