  1. Hi,
I am about to build a dedicated PVR box for our home, my question is which should I go with a Hauppauge PVR 250 or the All-in-Wonder 9600. I have a PVR 250 but the software sucks with it for recording etc, so without 3rd party software this solution is not great, it's hardware encoding is good and takes little cpu power though. How does the ati encoding compare? What cpu power does it need? The all in one solution is nice with vid in and out on the All-in-Wonder, I would have to go to a PVR 350 to get decoding and would still need another graphics card.
What are people's opinions and experiences with this?

I have the AIW 9000 pro and get excelennt results. I encode directly to mpeg2 without any dropped frames. You state you would need another graphics card, this will do it. Vivo, real nice to watch your finished product on your tv before burning.

  4. I have a PVR250, and it captures without dropping frames, in MPEG2 at 12Mbs CBR.

Crap software yeh, but that don't bother me as i'll just VModDub and TMPGEnc the raw file.

Only problem is my shitty analogue TV signal lets me down somewhat
