I have about 30-40 clips or different things. HOw DO I burn all these to a DVD so I can stick them in my DVD player and everytime I click >> it will switch to the next clip?
I basically want to make a VCD but a really big one so I can throw on Lots of clips. I used to make VCDs but could only get 80min worth of clips on 1 cd well now that i got a dvd burner I basically just want to make it so I can fit 200min+ of these clips on a DVD. All in mpeg1 format.. So is it possible to make a VCD using a DVD to get more space?

Author is a great program you'll be hard pressed to find another program as versatile or easy to use.
DVD requires 48k audio on those MPEG1 VCD files. Author can and will reencode the audio to 48k for you so that's not a big deal. I always do my own converts before hand so I'm sure there are no surprises. lol
You can have a menu (or a bunch of menus) with links to all those clips if you like or you can create a DVD without one. I generally create my own menu from scratch because I usually don't use chapter menus except on special projects. YOu can also set the menu up so it plays the first track instead of going to the main menu, and you can set it up to play the next track without going back to the main menu. See, a great program.
A track would be like a segmented movie made up of more than one video file. These will play like chapters one after the other until all are finished. You can put as many video files as you like into a single track but they must be very close to the same file properties. Like you can't put a VCD and a MPEG2 file in the same track (I don't think so). Using more than one track is like putting 2 movies on 1 dvd disk, you would use 2 tracks regardless how many segmented files they were that composed each movie. understand?
I suggest you take a few minutes and read Authors help file. It's not very big but will help you out alot I know.
Your project is very capable of being done in author.
Good luck. -
