    I want to encode a movie from ASF to AVI but Virtualdub doesnt support this anymore. Is there anyone who know what other software does the same. The Virtualdub here on this site is 1.4 and only until 1.3 supported the ASF.

    use asftools 2.00
    works much better than virtual dub in converting asf to avi

    freeware.

    I tried asftools 2.00 and the avi file that it made was choppy ( starts and stops ). Was there any speical settings that I needed to set?

    here are a few suggestion:
    - set "timing method" to "minimum extra frames"
    and disable "quick resync"
    - try repairing the file before conversion.
    - convert the file with virtualdub1.3c and compare the results.
