I need help to capture music VHS videos to SVCD.

I have an AverMedia TV card with FM radio and remote controll, the box says "AVerTV GO series" it came bundled with WinDVR1.5

The way I usually work is that I capture to AVI with VirtualDub 1.5.4 in 352x288 resolution using VirtualDubs noise reduction, then I use DVD2SVCD v1.1.3 to make the SVCD compliant mpeg file with variable bit rate (using TMPGEnc plus 2.5 for the encoding), then I author the SVCD in VCDEasy v1.1.5.2 and burn with nero 5.5.

Now I really want to be able to make captures with higher resolution than 352x288 but virtual dub won't let me do that under XP, I understand that there are some tweaked drivers that would let me capture att higher res. but I cant locate any drivers that works for me.

It would be nice if I could capture directly to an SVCD compliant mpeg file anybody know of a software that will let me do that?

I tried to capture with WinDVR directly to mpeg2 with a resolution of 720x576 and then convert the mpeg to 480x576 using TMPGEnc (using the SVCD template) but then the audio sounds like shit and the mpeg file I get crashes VCDEasy when I try to preview. Anybody knows how to do this? annd who van help me with a good template for making SVCD from 720x576 and which filters to use for cleaning up.

I have tried to capture with iuVCR then I can capture with higher resolution but the audio always end up out of sync. Also the file ends upp with some 24.999 fps instead of 25. Also when capturing with higher res. there are vertical lines all over the image, I guess this is an interlaced picture and it needs to be interlaced I use to set DVD2SVCD to smartdeinterlace when encoding.

My computer is AMD Athlon 1.2
20GB WD hardrive
128 MB RAM PC133
MSI motherboard with via chipset
I use HUFFYUV when capturing to AVI
The video source is composite
Audio is captured through the onboard sound card
