    ? is, when you author a dvd with this program, is there a way that you can add your own background pics? or do you have to stick with their pre-packed images?

    In TMPGEnc DVD Author - when you get to 'Create Menu' - click on 'Edit menu theme' and select a theme.

    After the theme has loaded click on 'Edit' and you can change the background image there.

    Yes, you can add your own still photo background. And if you want sound, you can mux it with a jpg picture in TMPGEnc and add it the same way as described above (add mpg instead of jpg). You can also add a motion video to get motion background effect. Works great.
