  1. OK I was surprised as you probably will be when I say a winrar probem, I've been using the program for years now without any probs but out of nowhere I start getting them... about 2 weeks ago I had to format and well installed a new copy of Winrar 3.20 and then about a week ago, I started uncompressing files and I was getting some files that were corrupted, I didn't think much of it at first but it started to happen more and more often, so I uninstalled it and reinstalled a fresh copy, still the same prob, I insdtalled Winace, still the same prob... now I'm at the end of my rope and have no idea what it could be... virus scanned and there wasn't one, so yea... help plz, cause I'm at a dead end

Without telling me what your archives contain, where are you getting your files? IRC or Usenet perhaps? Maybe the problem is your source and not Winrar per se.

Are you running the .sfv file? If it doesn't report any errors then you definitely have a problem with Winrar. If you don't have a SFV checker you can get one here.

The message should say which specific files are corrupt. Or is the big TAR file that has all of the RARS inside that is corrupt? I really think you habe a bad archive. Unless you are getting errors for everything you try to unrar. Also, I've had SFV files that reported no errors but didn't account for a single missing file because when the SFV file was created, a particular rar wasn't present in the first place. This happened to me just last week.

  8. For SFV i would only recommend you use HKSFV avalable at www.big-o-software.com I have had other sfv checkers not tell me when a file was bad and then i find out when extracting them.
