  1. OK, here's the deal. I typically use DVDXCopy Platinum to backup my DVD's. I also normally don't care about any the special features, so I just let XPRESS rip out all the languages and subtitles in order to fit just the feature onto one disc with the minimum of compression. Well, I backed up my copy of Slackers a while back. Since then I think I've lost the original. I would like to make another copy of backup just in case. Is this possible? DVDXCOPY won't do it. Can I simply let Roxio duplicate the disc for me? Any help or suggestions would be great. Thanks.

    Backing up a backup!
    Man, things are getting serious!
I see a tonne of these posts and never understand why people don't copy the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders to their HDD and burn again.
When I copy my home movies for my family this is by far the safest, quickest and ultimately the easiest way.
I suppose you could re-rip with something like DVDdecrypter but as you've already removed the DCsCC (correct?) why bother?

word, you said it. go into windows explorer, click on the dvd, select everything you see, hit copy, then paste it somewhere on your drive, then burn with whatever software you want.

You both sound so condescending, I'm embarrassed for u.

ROCKwithRESPECT.....you have discovered one of the main negative aspects of using dvd x copy. The backups it makes are coded somehow that makes them very difficult to copy.

I suggest you do a search in the forums for DVD x copy and check out the different techniques folks (who have succeeded at copying a dvdxcopy backup) have used to accomplish it. It isn't as easy as copying vobs or doing a disc copy in roxio.

You might try an ISO copy with DVD Decrypter. I think I read somewhere that someone has success with that. Good luck.

I have to agree with Bodene. Use DVD Decryptor. It's free, and does a bang-up job. Use it in ISO mode (read, then write). It'll make an image of your dvd, then burn it using the same program. Just a few clicks.

I in no way believe I was condescending to the poster. If you took that way then fine, but that was nowhere close to what I was saying. Just giving a short/concise answer.

    So yeah... okay.

The problem is that the files take up a lot of space. I've been able to copy back ups using DVD Decrypter and Nero Recode....
