Hey everyone...

I have a little problem that I can't seem to get just right. I have been converting some of my anime to SVCDs in the past and I am just now starting to enter the world of converting to DVDs. The problem I have been having is that my tv has REALLY bad overscan on it, so if I encode leaving the apsect ratios set at both the same for input and output as well as using "keep aspect ratio" the video looks okay, but the subtitles run off of the screen really bad. In another thread, Elmark suggested some "custom" resolutions to use for SVCD conversion to battle this problem. I used what he suggested and tweaked it slightly because of my specific tv. Basically what I came up with for a 24 minute 4:3 episode AVI encoded with a resolution of 640x480 originally, is a custom size of 432x448 and for a 16:9 episode with a resolution of 640x360, I ended up using a custom size of 432x336. These both seem to work out very well for my particular tv.

Now.... these are custom sizes for the SVCDs that I have been making. Since DVDs have a much higher resolution to them than SVCDs, does anyone happen to know what I might be able to use for custom size resolution to encode with that will give me a video that is in proportion as well as with subtitles that don't run off the screen? Also, if you have any ideas for the custom sizes of CVDs, that would be great too, as I am thinking about making these as well.

Thanks so much!!
